Saguaro Cactus
Saguaro cacti can make a great addition to any property, but always remember that Saguaro cactus are giant plants that must be respected. Not only are Saguaro cacti protected by law, but due to their size and weight, have the ability to crush anything in their path. Although large cactus species such as Saguaro can add aesthetics and value to your property, they can also grow at an amazingly quick pace when allowed to grow in captivity. This often happens because most yards use an irrigation or drip system. Cactus such as Saguaro will send its surface root system in all directions searching for a water source, and once found, the growth and size of the cactus can actually outgrow the ability of its root system to support itself. This is the reason that many Saguaro cacti in captivity will lean as they grow taller, and in many cases, they can fall to the ground without warning. In addition to their fast growth rate in captivity, Saguaro cacti are also susceptible to air-borne disease and infection, such as Bacterial Necrosis, which attacks the cactus from the inside, oftentimes not even visible until the health condition of the cactus is beyond repair.
Situations such as these are the most dangerous, because the cactus can randomly fall to the ground, crushing everything in its path, such as homes, vehicles, and in some cases, even people. Prickly Pear Cactus can be found throughout Phoenix and Scottsdale, and can make a great addition to your property. However, these cacti will continue to grow and expand in all directions, especially if they have access to water. This is one reason it’s important to understand that a Prickly Pear Cactus can grow too large for your yard. A Prickly Pear Cacti that is watered can grow at 10 times the rate of a Prickly Pear in the wild (can we say, growing pains?)

Jim was the one sent out and did an amazing job. Right on time, notified when on the way and cleaned up all the debris. The awesome moment was seeing the cleanliness of our artificial turf. We were also having root problems causing damage to our backyard walls and our pool deck, so we called Scottsdale Tree Trimmers to find out how they could help us. We were pleased to meet their owner who came out to do our estimate in person, and they told us over the phone that since he was a certified arborist, he would have no problem determining which trees and which specific roots were causing the damage to our property. When he met with us, he explained the process they use to remove the roots that are causing damage, but still are able to save our trees - which we were very happy to hear. They also pruned and thinned out several of our large trees in our back and front yards and they look so much better than before. Thanks for the great work!

I have been having trouble finding good work when it comes to yard work.. Not anymore. I called Scottsdale Tree Trimmers and a young man by the name of Joe showed up the next day for a quote. I trusted him to take care of my home while I was gone on business and when I came home, I was truly impressed. The Arborist and his crew listened carefully and made sure they understood an important request that I had for one part of my Mesquite tree, and trimmed that part of the tree as requested. She was able to schedule me to meet with their estimator the very next morning and not only did he call on his way to meet with me, he also gave me ample time to ask any questions and gave me an out-the-door price with no hidden fees or upcharges. He was able to a schedule my project for the very next day (I’ve had to way WEEKS when I’ve used other companies in the past!) and to say they were great is an understatement. They showed up on time (something that is so uncommon these days) and consulted with me before any tools touched my property.
